Vale inc is a crew containing Billy Meaclem, Matt Begg, Hunter Paull and Nils Heiniger. Our mission is to carry forward the energy lost when our dirt jump spot "The Vale" disappeared. This journey is about staying true to who we are, creating artistic endeavours within the MTB space in the form of films, trail building and clothing that resonates with us, and we hope, inspires others along the way.

WHAT THE VALE IS AND WAS
Music, nature, creativity, and community were the essence of the dirt jump spot, ‘The Vale’. I can remember the hot summer nights riding the meticulously hand-built jumps, illuminated by the night lights, as deep hip-hop bass waves flowed throughout the valley of Bowenvale.
The Vale was a backyard dirt jump spot nestled in a nature-rich valley at the bottom of the Port Hills in Christchurch, New Zealand. First created in 2004 by Andrew Costain, Mike Armstrong, Pete Reichwein, and many other passionate dirt jumpers, what started as a small backyard set-up then grew and throughout the years became a full multiline dirt jump spot. From the cruisy dirt skate park features, the step up for learning and dialling in new tricks to the “big set” and mains, The Vale had something for all of us and was the reason it created the tight crew it did.
It was a true community spot that shaped countless riders who grew up and evolved with it. For us and many others, it was a place that helped shape who we are today. It’s where our love for riding, building, and filming all originated. Sadly, in 2022, the property was sold, the jumps were destroyed and The Vale became a memory. Though it’s gone, its legacy lives on in everything we do. We will be forever grateful for The Vale and everything it’s given us and our group of mates.
